Like a mule!

Anyone else fed up of the constant reminders of Habs players past actions? I, for one, can't take it anymore. The amount of stupidities I've heard the last two days about Price are simply unacceptable. Everyone remembers the famous pictures of him on vacation, right? RIGHT! How can we forget those when they are constantly being slapped in our faces. The irony of some media members is disgusting. Do we really care what Price did on vacation 3 years ago after winning the Calder Cup? What does that have to do with today? What significance does the actions of a 20 year old on vacation have on the man he is today? Why don't some of these media types just focus on relevant facts rather than trying to stir the pot.It is because of these biased people that some "fans" will boo once a mistake is made,or a soft goal is let it. It is because of these people that more fragile players run out of town, and why other players are reluctant to come here. In the famous words of Craig Rivet regarding Montreal "it is a what have you done for me lately "place. For that Craig, you have to thank the stubborn mules that focus on irrelevant issues of the past and fill our air waves with nonsense and "EXPERT"opinions, add the "fans" who have no opinion of their own to that list.

Let it go already

  1. They don't just focus on the irrelevant things, like a Calder Cup winning goalie and his teammates celebrating in Cancun, but rather they blow things out of proportion and later distort these irrelevant things to continuously categorize the players and twist such "images" to feed their own speculative nonsense as facts which increases the fanatic fans' own vitrol.

I couldn't believe the stupidity I heard this afternoon...and I now know that some fanatics watch the game the same way Pat Hickey does, only replace "computer screen" with "paying attention to my beer" and only looking up when a goal is scored but not bothering to see the inbetweens.

  2. You are so right.I couldn't have said it better myself. What I've heard from "the one that touts his own horn" the last 2 days, reminded me of why I stopped listening to him. I really hope the vacation crew on Team 990 returns full time to host.
But,if it wasn't for these 2 days, I'd have no ammo for the next few blogposts to come. lol

  3. We live in a weird society, it's almost like some people take joy in seeing other people fail, and will try to do everything for that person to fail. I'm somewhat reminded by Patrice Brisebois in a sense. Halak might be gone but it seems like the city is still divided, and at this point, Carey Price will need to play well and win games to shut those people up.

  4. The root of the problem we have in Montreal, is the know it all media(well, some of them). Some of them target certain players because they snubbed them, for example. The past 2 days have been"shit on Pricey" because he went on vacation and partied after winning the Calder Cup. Tuesday, was make fun of Andrei Kostitsyn, because he didn't say "je suis"or "I am". Excuse him for having a problem with other languages. Some media don't get when ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" and it makes me sick.

  5. You're totally right, Cathie. We should be focusing on the present, and on the talent of our players rather than what they did on vacation. Do you think New York journalists are constantly writing about how Sean Avery is a terrible person? Do you think that everyone who reports on hockey is a saint? No, so I really don't know why people can't put this Price business to rest.

  6. It's some of the people who fill our air waves.TM kept talking about Pricey with a few cigarettes in his mouth etc...THEN I heard a Mix 96 DJ say how Now we'll see more of Price, at Globe and Buena Notte....I mean, get a freakn life already.

  7. I agree Cathie. And some continue to wonder why the Habs have trouble attracting UFAs. Let's move on. There was one clown on the conference call that sarcastically asked him about his rodeo activity this summer. Hated the way the question was phrased. Sounded like he was trying to get an incriminating sound-byte.

  8. I agree. Remember what the did to Patrick roy in 1993. He started the season off really poorly. The media were trying to run him out of town. They crucified him. Well the rest is history. He brought us the cup. Same thing will happen with price.

  9. I heard that, beezee05. They are scoundrels. They refuse to acknowledge that the root of the problem in Montreal,is THEM. Another fact is that most of them are not even habs fans.

  10. You are correct Johnny(anonymous). And Pricey will put all of these nay sayers in their place.

  11. What they don't realize is fans, bloggers, journalists of other teams sarcastically refer to these stereotypes (I guess that's what you can call them) about our players. Just saw one say after Price was signed that we should all celebrate by smoking a cigarette or 20. HE DOESN'T SMOKE! That picture was like football players and their cigars after they win the Super Bowl.

I remember Carbo telling a reporter how shaken and disturbed Price was once when word got to him about Jean Perron's stupid "I know a guy who knows a guy who saw Price and some other players doing lines in the back of a nightclub in St-Hyacinthe" bullshit. The players try to block it out, but sometimes they do hear it. And it affects them. And people don't realize how much it really does bother them. And Jean Perron should have known better than to blurt out that pack of lies on tv.

  12. It's the way society seems to be headed, unfortunately. Bullying has become fashionable. Just listen to the open lines, visit some of the msg boards - at least the French-speaking ones - I've been burned trying to advocate common sense and reserve about this gossip that only serve to make stupid people feel bigger by diminishing others, either players or the Habs organization altogether.

Feels good to unload! Thanks Cathie.

  13. hahahaha, I for the first time noticed that Sergei's shirt says "Sinner" on it in the picture with you, classic.

you guys are right, when the media portrays players negatively, people feed off of it and the results can be catastrophic. Benoit Brunet was great at this, I can only hope his replacement (have they named someone yet?) will be a bit more on the positive side. People believe what these guys say on TV, so say good things for people to believe, not bad. Otherwise, people pick up "BAD HAB-ITs" *happy dance* (shameless plug)

  14. I haven't even begun with the french media yet. This was written because of what some,ok one, of the english media types was saying over and over and over again.
AND, yeah,I got a lot of comments about SK's shirt saying "SINNER". He's really a character, funny kid. A joker. lol
